Getting a passport is not like buying groceries across the counter as it has its own set of procedures and documentation. If you want to obtain a US passport you have to go through these procedures before you have a glimpse of the passport face. There are several ways you can obtain a passport and one of them is applying for a passport online. There is another way you could get it, that is to buy passport online. In the former, you have to go through the step by step procedures applied in the government manual and it may take anywhere between 3 to 4 weeks. With the online purchase of the passport, there are no such time restrictions as you could get it in a week or less than that.

In the official passport portal, you have to apply early. If you are planning a trip abroad you should apply for the passport months before.   • ·         Calculate the processing fee and deposit it in the postal office by check, credit card, money order, etc or whatever is applicable. The fee that you have to pay to the State Department is sent along with the application takes care of that with a traveler check, money order or cashier’s check.

The third step of applying for passport

In the third phase, you find a post office within your periphery that will accept US passport applications. You may have to take an appointment because limited working hours are allotted for passport services. Find the nearest post office and apply for a fast return of the passport. There are fees that you have to pay for the expedition if you want the application processed within 2 or 3 weeks. Either you take the long route of the official channel or take advantage of the third source where you can buy passport online.
